Hello everyone,
This is our first blog for those wishing to visit Darke County, Ohio! If you have questions about our west-central county located on the Indiana / Ohio border, or you have been here and wish to share your experience... have at it! We want to hear what you have to say!
What's in Darke County, you ask? Well, let me tell you... the most famous dirt-track in America... Eldora Speedway, KitchenAid Experience Center & Stand Mixer Factory Tour, Annie Oakley Center at Garst Museum, Winery at Versailles with their award-winning wines, downtown Greenville with nationally-known shops such as McMaster & Storm and historic Bear's Mill.
We also have some great restaurants like The Bistro Off Broadway in downtown Greenville, Michael Anthony's at The Inn at Versailles in, yes you guessed it, Versailles, Ohio and there's The Maid-Rite Sandwhich Shoppe with their gum-wall... interesting to visitors and children. To tell the truth, disguisting to locals or at least to me!
There are also comfortable accommodations in Darke County, Ohio. From the one-of-a-kind, boutique-style suites at The Inn at Versailles to the national chains of Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites to locally-owned and operated B&B's, namely St. Clair Place, Wayman's Corner and Betty's, there's something for everyone in our community.
Well, it's March in Ohio. We just survived an ice storm that took power away from 12,000 homes for several day, and then the Blizzard of 2008 blew through. Are we ready for Spring? Uh, yes.
With Spring comes many small-town festivals and family fun events. Be sure to check back often to view information on these activities. If you are interested in signing up for our monthly e-newsletter, send an email to me at deannayork@embarqmail.com or call the Darke County Visitors Bureau at 1-800-504-2995.
Well, that's all for now.
See you around town,
Deanna
